John Ullman was living through this turmoil. He was going through a difficult divorce, which took away most of his life savings, causing him to fall behind on taxes.

“The IRS informed me that I would have to pay about a quarter of my monthly paycheck for the next 10 plus years,” Ullman said. “I am 55 years old and having this debt with the IRS would destroy any hope at rebuilding my savings for retirement. I was devastated at this outcome.”
